Damage Types
Physical Damage
Bludgeoning: Blunt-force trauma (clubs, rocks).
Piercing: Stabs and punctures (spears, fangs).
Slashing: Cuts (swords, claws).
Incorporeal creatures have high resistance to non-magical physical damage.
Energy Damage
Acid: Dissolves flesh and materials.
Cold: Freezing gases and ice.
Electricity: Lightning and sparks.
Fire: Heat and combustion.
Sonic: High-frequency vibration and sound.
Vitality: Harms only undead, withering their bodies.
Void: Saps life, damages only living creatures.
Force: Pure magical energy — few things resist it, not even incorporeal creatures.
Other Damage Types
Spirit: Affects a creature’s spiritual essence. Doesn’t harm creatures without a spirit (e.g. constructs).
Mental: Psychic force targeting the mind. Mindless creatures are often immune.
Poison: Applied via contact, ingestion, inhalation, or injury. Often from ongoing afflictions.
Bleed: Persistent physical damage from blood loss. Nonliving creatures are typically immune. Ends at full HP.
Precision: Extra damage from hitting a vulnerable spot (e.g. sneak attack). Uses the same type as the base attack. Amorphous creatures without vulnerable anatomy are often immune.
Precious Materials
Not a damage type, but materials like silver can bypass resistances (e.g. silver vs. werecreatures and devils).
