Fundamental Runes

Rulebook

Fundamental runes provide the basic magical enhancements for weapons and armor. Every magic weapon or armor has fundamental runes.

Weapon Potency

Adds an item bonus to attack rolls: +1 (level 2), +2 (level 10), +3 (level 16).

Striking

Increases damage dice: striking adds 1 extra die (level 4), greater striking adds 2 extra dice (level 12), major striking adds 3 extra dice (level 19).

Armor Potency

Adds an item bonus to AC: +1 (level 5), +2 (level 11), +3 (level 18).

Resilient

Adds an item bonus to saving throws: resilient +1 (level 8), greater resilient +2 (level 14), major resilient +3 (level 20).

Etching Runes

You must have the item in hand and use the Craft activity. The item’s level must be at least equal to the rune’s level. A weapon can have one potency rune and one striking rune. Armor can have one potency rune and one resilient rune. Property runes require a potency rune first.
