Hardness

Rulebook

Objects and shields have a Hardness value that reduces damage taken. Each time an object takes damage, reduce that damage by the object’s Hardness. Any remaining damage is applied to the object’s Hit Points.

If an object is reduced to its Broken Threshold (BT), it gains the broken condition and can’t be used normally until repaired. At 0 HP, it is destroyed.

Shield Block: When you use the Shield Block reaction, your shield takes damage that would be dealt to you. The shield’s Hardness reduces this damage first, then the remaining damage is split: the shield takes the damage to its HP, and any damage exceeding the shield’s Hardness is dealt to you.
