Languages
Rulebook
Your character starts knowing a number of languages determined by their ancestry and Intelligence modifier.
Starting Languages
Most ancestries grant Common plus the ancestry’s language (e.g. Elvish for elves). A positive Intelligence modifier grants additional languages chosen from a list.
Learning Languages
You can learn additional languages by:
- •Taking the Multilingual skill feat (requires trained in Society)
- •Spending downtime to learn from a teacher or immersion
- •Some class features and ancestry feats grant additional languages
Common Languages
Common (Taldane), Draconic, Dwarven, Elven, Gnomish, Goblin, Halfling, Jotun, Orcish, Sylvan, Aklo
Uncommon Languages
Some languages (Infernal, Celestial, Necril, Undercommon, etc.) are uncommon and require a specific reason to know them.
Secret Languages
Druidic is a secret language known only to druids. Teaching it to non-druids is considered a serious taboo.
