Multiple Attack Penalty
The more attacks you make beyond your first in a single turn, the less accurate you become. The second time you use an attack action during your turn, you take a –5 penalty to your check. The third time you attack, and on any subsequent attacks, you take a –10 penalty. Every check with the attack trait counts: Strikes, spell attack rolls, Shove, Trip, Grapple, and many others.
Agile weapons reduce these penalties to –4 on the second attack and –8 on further attacks.
Always calculate the penalty based on the weapon you’re using for that attack, not previous attacks. For example, if you wield a longsword and an agile shortsword:
- •1st Strike (either weapon): no penalty
- •2nd Strike with longsword: –5; with shortsword: –4
- •3rd Strike with longsword: –10; with shortsword: –8
The multiple attack penalty applies only during your turn. Reactive Strikes and similar reactions on other creatures’ turns are unaffected.
| Attack | Standard | Agile |
|---|---|---|
| First | 0 | 0 |
| Second | –5 | –4 |
| Third+ | –10 | –8 |
