Persistent Damage

Rulebook

Persistent damage is dealt at the end of your turn, bypassing immunities and resistances that applied to the original effect (unless specifically stated). After taking persistent damage, you attempt a DC 15 flat check to end it. You automatically recover when healed to full HP.

Reducing the DC

An ally can use an action to help you, such as patting out flames or applying pressure to a wound. This grants you an immediate flat check with the DC reduced based on the aid:

  • Particularly appropriate actions (extinguishing fire by dousing with water): reduces DC to 10
  • General aid (smothering flames): reduces DC to 15 (no change, but triggers an extra check)

Administer First Aid can also end persistent bleed damage (DC is the effect’s DC or 15, whichever is higher).

Multiple Types

If you have persistent damage of multiple types, you take each separately and attempt a flat check for each at the end of your turn.

Immunities

If you’re immune to the damage type, you don’t take the persistent damage and it ends automatically.
