Sustaining Spells

Magic & Spellcasting

If a spell’s duration is "sustained," it lasts until the end of your next turn unless you use the Sustain action on that turn to extend it.

Sustain a Spell (1 action, concentrate): Extend the duration of one sustained spell you have active until the end of your next turn. Some spells have additional effects when sustained, noted in the spell description.

You can sustain multiple different spells in a single turn, but each requires a separate Sustain action. If you don’t Sustain a spell on your turn, it ends at the end of that turn.

If a sustained spell has a maximum duration listed (e.g. "sustained up to 1 minute"), the spell ends when that time elapses even if you keep sustaining it.

Dismissing Spells

Some sustained spells can be dismissed. Use the Dismiss action (1 action, concentrate) to end one of your sustained spells immediately.
