Terrain
Different terrain types affect movement and combat.
Difficult Terrain
Each square costs 5 extra feet of movement (10 feet total per square). Examples: rubble, undergrowth, snow, shallow bogs, uneven ground, stairs.
Greater Difficult Terrain
Each square costs 10 extra feet of movement (15 feet total per square). Examples: deep snow, thick jungle, steep slopes.
Hazardous Terrain
Any square that damages you when you enter or end your turn there. Examples: lava, acid pools, blade barriers, spiked pit floors.
Uneven Ground
Rough or slippery surfaces. You may need to Balance (Acrobatics) or fall prone. Requires an Acrobatics check when you enter or are in the area.
Narrow Surfaces
Ledges, beams, or tightropes. You must Balance to traverse them. You’re off-guard on narrow surfaces. If you critically fail the Balance check, you fall.
Incline
Moving uphill is treated as difficult terrain. Particularly steep inclines might be greater difficult terrain or require Climbing.
