Disable DC 26 acrobatics to scramble out of the way, DC 24 deception or DC 24 intimidation (trained) to draw the Ox's attention. The DC of the flat check for this round (see Routine) is increased by 4 on a success, or by 8 on a critical success. Increasing the flat check DC to 21 or higher buys the party enough time to move up the Ox's back, disabling the hazard.

Tail Swatoffensive

Trigger A creature lands near the base of the Granite Ox's tail --- Effect The Granite Ox makes a tail Strike against the triggering creature. The hazard then rolls initiative.

Description

Feeling the presence of creatures on its backside, the Granite Ox swishes its stone tail to swat them away.

Escaping The PCs overcome this hazard by moving out of the area that the Ox's tail can reach. A PC escapes (and is not subject to tail Strikes) by ascending the Ox's sloped back, traveling a distance based on the result of the PC's Reflex save from the Shaken Loose hazard. PCs can Climb up the Ox's back with a successful DC 24 athletics check or—by finding and scrambling up improvised paths—a DC 26 acrobatics, DC 26 perception, or DC 26 survival check. With a successful DC 20 acrobatics check, a flying PC can ascend half their fly Speed (or their full Speed on a critical success). PCs can attempt to Disable the hazard whether or not they're in range of the tail.
